Volunteers
are vital to the programs and services of The Arc of Mower County. Volunteers
are the backbone of our organization—lending support in a variety of ways to the
people and families we serve. From playing games with preschoolers to helping a
young woman practice her batting swing… coaching a sports team to its first win
of the season… or working to make an event run smoothly… there are so many ways
you can help! Your contribution can make a valuable difference in someone’s
life.
Volunteer opportunities exist for individuals and groups.
You can help on a one-time basis for our special events or on a regular basis
working with people and families in our programs and activities. To learn
more, please contact us at 507-433-8994.
Current Opportunities
-
Recreation Assistance - The Recreation
program seeks volunteers of all ages to assist with weekly daily gatherings on
Tuesday through Saturday based at The Arc. Opportunities are
available for weekend activities that include dances, dinners, sporting
events, community outings and other fun-filled entertainment.
-
Committee Members
- The Arc has numerous committees that need the expertise of volunteers from
the community. Committees usually meet monthly during night or daytime hours
convenient to the members. Some areas of need include persons with human
resources skills to assist the Personnel Committee; accountants or financial
analysts to assist the Finance Committee; and marketing or fund-raising
professionals to assist the Marketing and Development committees.
-
Office Assistance
- Assistance is always needed for mailing preparation, computer
troubleshooting, inventory and miscellaneous clerical duties during flexible
daytime hours between 8:00 a.m. - 5 p.m.
-
Special Olympics Coach - Year-round, The Arc provides
opportunities for athletes to participate in Bowling and Softball.
-
Event Volunteers - Help The Arc add success to our
special events such as the picnic, monthly dances,
annual meeting, Fundraisers and so much more.
-
Exercise Partner - Nothing beats the enjoyment some
participants receive from exercising. Many of the individuals need exercise
partners to help them keep in shape. Burn calories while making new
friends and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
-
Group Activities - Do you love being part of a group?
This opportunity is for friends, families and co-workers. We are looking
for groups to plan fun activities with the individuals we support. Go on
a river boat ride, pick pumpkins, eat pizza, go swimming, cheer on the
Minnesota Twins or the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
-
Mentor / One-on-one Volunteer - The Arc pairs
volunteers with unique and special individuals who share their interests.
Enjoy meals, walks, movies, games and more! Soon, you will have a great
friend.
